"Hidden Figures" by Margot Lee Shetterly kicks off the Book Club's 2017-2018 reading season. This is the riveting true story of four exceptionally talented African American women who were called into service during the labor shortages of World War II. These dedicated female mathematicians, known as "human computers," used pencils, slide rules, and adding machines to calculate the numbers that would launch rockets, and astronauts, into space. Their careers spanned over nearly three decades and changed our country's future.
