Services and Programs

The OPL Children's Department provides numerous services for children and parents.

Teachers, please check out our Teacher Corner for details on special services the library can offer to you.

Advice: Looking for a good book? The OPL children's staff will be happy to help you find a title you will enjoy. We will also gladly recommend titles according to reading level and interest.

Learning Station: Families can enjoy toys, puzzles, and puppets in the Learning Station area. In addition, computers with educational games for preschool children can be found here. These computers were funded through a grant from the Wayne County Community Foundation.

Story Times: Offered at a variety of times for ages 9 months through 5 years. Holiday and special story times are offered on occasion, as well as creative programs for children in grades K-2. See the Story Time page for information on the latest session.

Displays: Do you have a collection you'd like to display? Children may arrange to have their collection in our display case for one month. Our young patrons love to see what their friends are collecting! Call the Children's Department at 330-683-1065 to sign up.

Programs: The Children's Department at OPL is continuously developing relevant, educational, and fun programming for children and youth. Check our calendar for current programming.

Summer Reading Program: From June through August, fun and creative incentives are provided to keep school-aged children reading all summer long. Students who have just finished kindergarten all the way through high school can participate in various programs. Check out our SRP page for more information.

Tel-A-Story: By dialing 330-683-2222, children can call our Tel-A-Story line. They may then choose among several titles and listen to a three-minute story. These stories are changed monthly.
